The name, "ABIA" is formed from the first letter of the names of the four States densely populated regions, ABA, BENDE, ISIUIKWUATO AND AFIKPO (ABIA)

Abia State also known as God's own state is known for her rich art and culture,vast human resources, technology, industry and unmatched record for talents on almost all areas of life.

Abia state is main inhabited by Igbo (Ibo) people. Abia state is one of the most densely populated area in Nigeria. The main highways network serves Umuahia and Aba. A state with active women force dated back to "Aba women's Riots of 1929"

Most of the population is engaged in Agriculture, farming Yam, Taro, Corn(maize), rice and cassava as stable crops. Palm oil is the main cash crop while mineral resources include Lead, Zinc, and Oil. the State was created on 27th August, 1999 by President Babangida(IBB)
